I have to ask: AP what is up with this title?

Politices is dirty and filled with tricks, but I have to ask the Associated Press: What the heck guys?

I mean how much more sexual innuendo can one article contian in the title alone? This defiantly made me laugh pretty hard yet disgusted me at the mental image it can create if thought about for a little to long.

Only in Dubai will you find tower that rotates 360 degrees in 6 hours; creating  dazzling views that captivate one into paying 3.7 million to 70 million for unit.

The Dynamic Architecture building has been aptly named Rotating Tower as the floors would be capable of rotating around a central axis. It will be continually in motion, changing shape and giving residents the ability to choose a new view at the touch of a button.

Can you Smell it? Smells like Tradition

Folks, I always get really excited around this time of the year due to a couple of things (great weather, summer time) but mainly cause of one thing: Wimbledon!

One of the most time honored and oldest tennis tournaments which embodies a true sense of tradition with culture resulting in Champions that often carry themselves with the highest of standards demanded by this Tournaments. The tournament always seems to crown the players which have polished games to tackle the speed and power required to play on this surface of grass.

It has made legends out of great players; Roger Federer, Pete Sampras and Bjorn Borg to name a few that come to mind.

All of whom have at least five, that’s right FIVE Wimbledon titles each. With Sampras leading the way with Seven, and Federer closing in with Five and counting (Aiming for a Sixth this year)!! Wimbeldon this year  represents more challenges to Federer then before. These challenges come in the form of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and maybe even a refreshed and rested Andy Roddick.

As many of you know this is the first time in two years Federer has started out NOT winning a Grand slam event before Wimbeldon. Thus people are starting to question his abilities after the routing that Nadal gave him at the french. I for one feel as though it will be the hardest Federer will have to work to beat Djokovic and Nadal. These players are not afraid of Federer and have showcased they can and will beat Federer if the opportunity is there or make it so it presents it self. Thoughts?Comments please do tell

Entertianing Politics

One of the funnier sides of politics that was sent to me recently. “An entrepreneur has found his own way to “have fun” and to profit from the U.S. presidential race — putting the candidates’ faces on condom packages”

This one cracked me up especially with what each canadates comdoms say:

Sherman said the Obama condom carries the slogan “Use With Good Judgment.” The McCain version says “Old but not expired.” McCain is 71.

Sherman started his company a few weeks ago for fun and stated “We’ve done it in fun.”  Here is to hoping that he does not get sued for any type of copy right infringement, because we all need a little more humor from these candidates. Thus if you want them they will run you : 9.95-dollar-per-pair “keepsakes” and supplies are running so low he had to order another shipment

What is up with Teens ?

I remeber when I was a teenager, i cared about : sports, cars, and video games and studying for SAT’s and colleges. But now for the first time in 15 years there is an increase in teen pregnancy. Teen Pregnancy is actually going in an different direction, with teens WANTING to get pregnanct rather then it being an accident. Gloucester High school is experiencing this, you have to wonder what their thought process is from this information:

“some girls seemed more upset when they weren’t pregnant than when they were,” Sullivan says. All it took was a few simple questions before nearly half the expecting students, none older than 16, confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. Then the story got worse. “We found out one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy,” the principal says, shaking his head.

This must be a new trend, trying to get pregnant just beause you want the attention and loving from a baby.

“They’re so excited to finally have someone to love them unconditionally,” Ireland says. “I try to explain it’s hard to feel loved when an infant is screaming to be fed at 3 a.m.”

Course they fail to realize, it all comes with a price and a maturity level with these teens seem to lack. Hopefully they wake up to reality and they trend does not continue.

Today Vs. Ages ago

What if we could not blog like we did today or share information between people as we have become accustomed to over the internet? This was a reality (one which I would not know how to live without), but all this was made possible with the creation of :

Imagine an iPod, an iPod is more powerful then whats pictured above. Now lets look at what was announced today by IBM: IBM’s Roadrunner is the worlds Fastest and most efficient computer to date:

The fastest supercomputer in the world is also one of the most energy efficient. That’s according to the Top500 supercomputers list, to be released Wednesday at the International Supercomputing Conference in Dresden, Germany.

What more could we want; technology improving by leaps and bounds while doing it efficiently. Just take a look at where the fastest computer was last year in comparison to this years:

This year, the 31st time the list has been put together, the honor of top supercomputer goes to IBM’s Roadrunner, which is housed at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory. It’s the first system to reach 1.026 petaflops (1 petaflop is equal to a quadrillion, or one thousand trillion, calculations per second).

For perspective, last year’s most powerful computer, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s BlueGene/L–also made by IBM–reached 208.6 teraflops. This year that computer ranked No. 2, reaching a max processing speed of 478.2 teraflops.

The fun fact of all this is that these computer are baised on the same archtecture as the IBM processors used in the PS3. Imagine that, a supercomputer uses the same processors as your good old gaming system. Thoughts comments?

Discovering Austins networks

Sometimes it just takes one or two things to click to make everything fall into place. Thats what I think has happened to me in regard to finding out more about Austins start up community. Within the last 4 days I have discovered more then I ever knew about what kind of people are in Austin, and how much zeal and enthusiasm they have for start up culture. Many of you that know me know how much I love to that type of culture and networking with people.

Thus I was aching to find that type of Culture to which I was used to in the Bay Area, and it took me about a year but I think i have found it. My first taste of this was on Saturday at Product Camp Austin(Paul Young Pictured above), I started to meet some of them there but it translated towards Geek Austin @ Semantic Web Launch Party today:

The topic was Semantic Web ( I am still trying to learn more  about this). I am starting to get a rough idea of what it is after today. Either way the main point of this post is to show how in a year of living in Austin and not finding much web 2.0 things. In 4 days I discovered an entire community which is trying to start up things as http://startupdistrict.com/ or get the area more interested in http://austin30.org/. I was extremely amazed and enjoyed the company I meet today. Really hoping to make good relationships with the crowd I meet and maybe even toss some ideas around with them. Thoughts Comments ?

Google gets MSFT lunch and Yahoos breakfast

I can whole heartedly say today is a sad day for tech, it will be the day many remember as when Yahoo gave up its independence in order remain “independent.” This Yahoo!Google search deal almost sounds as though Google is the younger brother that pays the older brother not to try to make it big on his own and uses the older brothers friends to make more money. This deal stinks and does not I repeat sound like it will pass regulators once MSFT starts to get involved. This could be tied up in courts for ages and create nothing for share holders except discontent and angry and many people losing value (money) in the stock. Just view the amount of search Google would have :

To quote Kara Swisher:

“It is bad for advertisers, it is bad for consumers, it is bad for innovation, no matter how well-intentioned Google is.

And no matter how many flashy moves Google and Yahoo make, it is flat-out wrong for one player to so dominate such an important sector.”

Upon hearing this new I instantly thought of ColdPlay’s new song Viva La Vida and these lyrics in particular :

“I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sweep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy’s eye.”

These lyrics  convey the sentiment shared by many about Yahoo:, once a power house a place for innovation creation and a true passion for the delivering amazing products and user experience. Is now a company hanging on by a thread, a former shell of its self. There can be plenty of blame to be placed on everyone but the truth is the company is pretty much left to decay. This search deal with Google only shows how far behind Yahoo is, and how the mighty have fallen. This deal is horrible for Yahoo due to three main areas : Antitrust, Google viewing yahoo’s display ads, and if Google pulls the plug a year down the road then nothing.

There is a lot of risk placed in this deal which Yang may feel is warranted, but what was really accomplished? You took away a great bid for the fear of being consumed, to becoming totally dependent on another enemy that can leave you for dead after gutting you. It is a sad day in the valley as a innovative and proud company has just fallen to its knees. Thoughts? Comments? tears of sadness?

Summers delight

Today i discovered how long it’s been since i have heard some truely amazing music with regard to main stream and not indie bands. The last good main stream album from a band or artist in my view was Future Sex Sound as it was cleanly produced, had a little bit of every thing for everyone. The last good album (since Future Sex Sounds) period was Death Cab Narrow Stairs and before that was Cold Play X&Y. The great thing about X&Y was that it stands the test of time, even now when I click on it in my itunes i am still amazed at how well it has me immersed in the cords vocals etc. Thus when I was watch the NBA finals last night, and there was an ad for Cold Play’s single “Viva La Vida”. This caught me by surprise and i started searching if Cold Play had a new album (Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends) and much to my chagrin they did.

Thus i proceeded to see if they were releasing it online, and Cold play being the amazing band that loves their fans actually has http://www.iheartmusic.com/cc-common/news/sections/special/coldplay.html where you can stream it. Thus the moment I found the stream source i was hooked and couldnt stop listening to it. The first single of course was Viva La Vida, this reminded me alot of XY with its tone and sense of speed. Then the next one was “Yes” as this song was totally different from the last album, totally new tune and sense of feel of the song.

I wont bore you with an in-depth analysis of the Album since I am not a critique nor an expert in this area. But i would suggest that you take an listen to this new Album. It gives a feel of amazing joy yet modesty as you listen to it. Thus It should easily be the best album of the year (in my view) next to Death Cab. This album is a great follow up to X&Y, but with the band taking the next leap towards altering themselves to branch out into new areas of focus with their music. I hope you enjoy the streaming link as much as I have in the last 24 hours that I have discovered it! Also purchasing the album when it comes out next week so you can repeat it over and over and over again as I did with X&Y. Thoughts, Comments please let me know.
